Review of the movie "Ghost in the Shell"

The film is definitely good, Johansson looks very good in the role of the Major, Takeshi Kitano's performance stands out pleasantly.

I especially want to mention the dubbing of the Japanese woman - they were not too lazy and correctly conveyed the pronunciation.

In the film, everything is chewed up and explained in detail in Hollywood from the first frames, but everything looks really interesting. And if the middle sags a little because of curiosity, then the ending is juicy and intense. The film leaves an exceptionally pleasant feeling.

However, the film has only one fatal flaw. Cyberpunk, as a branch of science fiction, originated in the early 80s in literature, and over the years has moved to movie screens. During this time, the topic of cyberpunk has been raised dozens of times, looked around from different points of view, and hundreds of new ideas have been invented. But the icons of the genre were the books by William Gibson, "Blade Runner" (1981) by Ridley Scott and "Ghost in the Armor&(manga 1991, anime 1995).

But for the "widest" audience, this is, of course, the "Matrix" of 1999. Hence the comments from the audience and reviews of the Ghost - "cool, just like in the matrix!", which sound at least comical...

Whoever gets up first gets his slippers. The 2017 film can in no way prove to the viewer that this Ghost was at the origin and was the inspiration of the genre in general and the Matrix in particular. Consequently, an inexperienced viewer sees good and canonical cyberpunk on the screen, but with standard moves and hackneyed issues... It's a pity...











Review of the film "It's only the End of the World" (2016)


The impression after watching it is as if I saw the perspective of my life from the outside, if I continue to live like this.


In general, the story is very simple.

A guy, after 12 years, finally comes to the family home to tell important news and... I won't say what, see for yourself.

The film perfectly uses colors, sharpness, and details. The music is so accurate and organic. Watch the delicious feed. Especially if you love with your eyes.

It is clear that everything is thought out, motivated, honed and in the right place.

The story is simple, but the film turned out to be dynamic, interesting, exciting, catchy, and all thanks to the characters. Each of the characters has his own story, he does not begin to "live" only when he appears in the frame, he "lived&"before and after." All are different, but at the same time have a "common denominator".

And we wouldn't have felt it without the acting. It was powerfully played.

The viewer is not served everything at once on a tray. Much remains behind the scenes, causing "information hunger" - a technique that works flawlessly.

Moreover, it is not the first time that I have encountered the feeling when I understand the motivation of all the characters. I understood why my sister and brother were hostile to the main character; I understood why my mother did not complain to him; I understood why he could not make up his mind; why they were shouting / breaking down / not talking/ throwing words / crying / not touching each other. I understood. Because it would be a reflection of what's happening to me and the people around me.

I felt great about the main character. He's so lonely. He is alone among people. He's a stranger in the family. He is considered dismissive. He hadn't come home for 12 years, he couldn't stay under the same roof with them. With people who don't think at least a little like him, don't accept his views.

And after watching it, I clearly understood "you can't do it the way you're doing it now... otherwise, that's exactly what awaits you - moving and only invitations to important dates."
